Jeff Kortan – Owner/Producer
Jeff Kortan has had a unique and successful career path in both Retail Customer Service and the Construction Industry. In 2000 he brought both these fields together with commercial insurance. This has been a great fit as Jeff understands customers requirements and expectations in successfully operating a business in the construction industry. He is a designated Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS) by the International Risk Management Institute.
Jeff is a proud father of two wonderful children. In his free time, Jeff enjoys cycling (road and mountain), photography, chasing his dog around the yard and practicing Yoshinkan Aikido.
Michael Osborne – Compliance and Operations Manager
Michael began working at Empire West in 2018 after completing degrees in Business, Administrative Professional and Computer Information Systems, Computer Applications. He has put his education to use with an emphasis on customer service and managing the daily operations of the company. Michael is licensed in Property and Casualty and Surplus Lines insurance.
Michael enjoys traveling with his wife and three kids and even lived in Spain for 8 years. He also enjoys painting, cooking and learning Taekwondo.
Devan Kortan – CSR and Renewal Specialist
Devan is proud to have joined the family business in 2024. After graduating from Sacramento State with a Political Science degree, he spent eight years as a radio producer with several different NPR stations across the country. He is also a jazz musician and plays guitar and banjo in clubs around Philadelphia and New York City.
